After spending 16 years on the pro cycling circuit and having his fair share of accidents with no major breakages to bones it takes a skipping contest to fracture his foot.
“We were all jumping through a skipping rope like the girls used to at school and as I landed I felt something crack”, said Hunter. It was a weird freak accident and he told the doctor he was sure that he had damaged his foot. Everyone thought it was a joke and it was only much later when I asked the doctor to take a good look at my foot that he realised I had fractured the metatarsal in my foot.
Robert is having some family time with his wife and girls in Kwa –Zulu at the moment and is moving around like hop along Cassidy. “ I should be ok in a couple of weeks , it’s just that I can only walk around with crutches and move at a snails pace”,said Hunter.
This has to be frustrating for our champ that was always used to doing things at full speed , take it easy old man and hope you have a speedy recovery.Robert will be starting the new season as a Sports Director for Slipstream Sports.
